I have viewed bviplannet and it has some games and message boards and a phone conference system, but beware, it is very slow if you use a braille note or pac mate.

I guess what would need to happen is for them to pitch the idea, why another social network, why another Zone, in this case?
Facebook is king because when you sign up all you need do is fill in some info and pretty soon, you start making connections with people you already know, and had known even decades in the past. Their old tagline about connecting you with people you know in real life, actually works. This site as a message boards format and chat system is one thing, but I think they'll have a hard time getting takers for people to set up their wall and doo the work it takes to set things up like Facebook for just a few of their friends to connect with - the blind or 'VI' ones. That word VI still sounds like a clunky Unix editor to me.

Mixxt looks like an easier-to-use version of diaspora, With diaspora, you create your own network by running the server software and administering. You may add your server to the larger network, or not. In the diaspora, users own and control their content.
